Several firefighting units employed foam tactics to manage a significant industrial blaze at a facility located in Shepherd, Texas, which resulted in an injury to one employee.
Around 8:00 a.m., reports came in of a potential blast at the Sound Resource Solutions premises, a company known for producing adhesives and paint stripping chemicals. According to a report by Eyewitness News, a propane tank with a capacity of 1,000 gallons was at the center of the blaze, with a substantial natural gas pipeline situated beneath the area.
The proprietor of Sound Resource Solutions acknowledged the forklift mishap and indicated that the employee incurred a minor injury, and was receiving treatment.
It was confirmed by officials that at the time of the incident, only 19 of the approximately 40 staff members were on duty, but all present were accounted for. The condition of the injured worker is reportedly stable.
Officials indicated that the fire involved hazardous materials such as flammable liquids, diesel fuel, turpentine, and other potentially toxic chemicals.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents within a one-mile radius of the incident, affecting communities in San Jacinto and Polk counties as well as the town of Livingston.
Emergency management authorities from Polk County had advised those in the vicinity to stay indoors and to deactivate their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
