A tragic incident has occurred at Port Houston, where a fire broke out on a ship, claiming the lives of two individuals, as confirmed by authorities.
The incident occurred in the control room of a vessel stationed at the Barbours Cut Terminal. Port Houston officials verified the fatalities as a result of the fire, while a third individual sustained burns and was transported to the hospital via Life Flight for immediate medical attention.
Reports indicate that the fire broke out while the ship was undergoing refueling, connected to a barge that was docked alongside the vessel.
Although the flames have been brought under control, the area remains under continuous surveillance in adherence to the 24-hour monitoring protocol implemented by the Port of Houston.
In the wake of the incident, the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause behind the outbreak of the fire.
